(Des Moines) Thunderstorms are forecast to fire up again in southwest and western Iowa this afternoon, adding to the already saturated soils. Mike Fowle, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines, says storms are expected to develop this afternoon and last into the evening hours. Fowle says the main threat for severe weather is in southeast Iowa; however, the southwest region of the state is at slight risk. He says the main danger is from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Fowle says heavy rain could again affect areas in the region receiving overnight rail totals of three to six inches of rain. Mineola in Mills County received over six inches of rain. Lyman received four inches of rain, Griswold 3.75 inches, and Massena 3.25 inches.
