A round of severe weather, including at least one tornado, hit the Des Moines metro area Monday evening.

Severe weather threats continued across the state, as many Iowans saw severe wind gusts, hail and rainfall. Here are the largest hail and rainfall reports in Iowa since Monday.

What places in Iowa saw the largest hail?

While most of Iowa saw some sort of severe weather last night, nine counties experienced hail, according to unofficial reports to the National Weather Service. The counties with the largest hail were:

    • Tama County: 2 inches
    • Black Hawk County: 1.25 inches
    • Carroll County: 1 inch
    • Butler County: .88 inches

What were the highest rainfall totals across Iowa from Monday's derecho?

Monday's derecho and tornado caused significant tree damage in Des Moines, but it brought little rain. The capital city recorded just a trace amount of rain at the Des Moines International Airport. Nearby Ankeny recorded 0.54 inches of rain.

Here are the places in Iowa that received the most rain Monday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

    • Cedar Rapids: 1.66 inches
    • Oelwein: 1.63 inches
    • Iowa Falls: 1.34 inches

Some local pockets of 2-3 inches of rain were reported in Linn and neighboring Benton counties by spotters.
