    EF1 tornado confirmed to hit Des Moines, Urbandale, Windsor Heights. See the path it took:

    An EF1 tornado hit the Des Moines metro on Monday evening amid severe thunderstorms and a derecho that crossed the state.

    Winds gusts reached 105 mph and the tornado lasted from 5:37 p.m. to 5:47 p.m. It traveled just over 7 miles through Urbandale, Windsor Heights and Des Moines.

    The max width of the tornado was 300 yards, according to the National Weather Service.

    There were no injuries or deaths from the tornado. But the storm left behind damaged trees, homes and downed power lines, knocking out electricity and internet for 10,000 people at its peak Monday.

    EF1 tornado also hits the Quad Cities

    An EF1 tornado also hit the Quad Cities on Monday evening. The tornado started in Davenport near West Kimberly Road and moved east. It passed through Bettendorf and crossed the Mississippi River, making it to East Moline.

    Wind speeds were as high as 100 mph, and the tornado traveled a total of 8 miles. The max width of the tornado was 100 yards. It resulted in damage to trees, roofs and cars south of Kimberly Road.
