    A two-wheeled piece of Iowa State Patrol history returns home

    DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa State Patrol showed off a newly recovered piece of its history Sunday at a ceremony at the State Capitol.

    As part of the Patrol’s 89 th Anniversary, the Iowa Automotive Heritage Foundation presented the Patrol with a restored ISP KZ10000P motorcycle.

    “On July 28 th , 1935, 89 years ago today, the Iowa Highway Patrol made its first tour of duty. As the first 50 began carrying out a proud tradition. It will become our motto of courtesy, service, and protection. Using 12 motorcycles and 37 vehicles they were tasked to cover over 6,000 miles of assigned highway. We’re extremely proud of our history, tradition, personnel, retired service members, and the work we collectively do to support our traffic safety and public safety mission,” said Sgt. Alex Dinkla, Public Information Officer of the Iowa State Patrol.

    The IAHF located motorcycle in England, where the owner had kept its original decals and showcased it at events.

    The ISP KZ10000P will be part of the Iowa State Fair parade on Wednesday, August 7 th in downtown Des Moines. It will also be on display at the Grand Concourse of the of the State Fairgrounds for Heroes Day on the first day of the fair, August 8 th .
