The Des Moines Police Department will be hosting a city-wide Block Party on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Steven J. Underwood Park (map below).

The event promises to be a fun-filled evening for the entire community with a range of free offerings and activities.

“Come together with friends, family, and our amazing community for a evening full of fun, laughter, and great memories,” police said.

As part of the festivities, free bike helmets for youths under 18 years old will be provided. Attendees must be present to be fitted for the helmets, and supplies are limited.

Additionally, owners of Hyundai, Kia, or Ford F-150 vehicles are encouraged to bring their vehicle registration to receive a free steering wheel lock, also available on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to one lock per vehicle.

The block party aims to bring the community together for an evening of enjoyment while promoting safety and security.
