Glencoe Residents to Determine Future of Parks with $14.7 Million Bond Referendum in November 2024 Ballot
Residents of Glencoe are facing a decision that will shape the future of their community's parks and facilities. A $14.7 million bond referendum will appear on the November 2024 ballot, tantalizing voters with visions of updated playgrounds, improved accessibility, and modernized maintenance facilities. According to the Chicago Tribune, the Glencoe Park District Board unanimously voted on July 17 to put the 25-year bond sale referendum to a vote, aiming to enhance the district without increasing property taxes.

MILWAUKEE, WIS. -- The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference has announced the 2023-24 NACC Scholar-Athletes. This year, 167 CUC student-athletes were named to the list. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes competing in NACC sponsored sports must maintain a grade point average of 3.25 or higher for the entire academic year.
American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Serves Meal At Dupage Care Center
The Ladies Auxiliary of the West Chicago American Legion Post #300 served dinner to 17 residents at the DuPage Care Center this evening. We are so appreciative of the generous donations from the community for their special Christmas in July program! The auxiliary was able to donate funds directly to each Veteran for their personal accounts at DPCC. Special thanks go to Sons Of The American Legion Post #300 for their support, and Hawthorne’s Backyard for providing the delicious food.
Secret Service to release security plans for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) — The Secret Service will release security measures for the Democratic National Convention.Governor JB Pritzker, Mayor Brandon Johnson and Superintendent Larry Snelling will hold a media conference with the Secret Service at 11:30 a.m.The DNC will take place from August 19 through August 22 at the United Center and McCormick Place. Security is expected to be very tight, especially in the wake of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.The Chicago Police Department has been working with law enforcement in Milwaukee following the Republican National Convention. An update is expected Thursday. On Sunday, President Joe Biden announced he would end his 2024 re-election bid and endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, as the party's nominee. According to new rules passed Wednesday by the party's convention rules committee, the Democratic Party will select its new nominee virtually as soon as Aug. 1. The DNC also established that the party's candidate, which is likely to be Harris, must pick a running mate by Aug. 7, Ohio's current ballot deadline, which remains in effect.
