City brush pick up scheduled for September
Due to the popularity of the program, it is no longer necessary for Bowling Green residents to call and register for Brush Collections. The next Brush Collection will begin on Monday, Sept. 16. To ensure pickup, residents must place their brush on the curb by Monday, Sept. 16th by 7a.m. This is the third brush collection of the year. The next collection will be in October.
BGSU students to deliver fire safety information to BG neighborhood
As part of Bowling Green State University’s Students’ Day of Service, students are partnering with the American Red Cross to encourage fire safety. On Saturday, Aug. 24, the students will be canvassing Bowling Green neighborhoods, delivering door hangers containing information on fire safety and encouraging residents to call to request free smoke alarms and installation.
Six local artists to display work in ‘Creative Connections’ exhibit
“Creative Connections,” the newest exhibition at the Bowling Green Arts Council (BGAC) ArtSpace opens with a reception and annual meeting 5-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23. The ArtSpace is located at the rear entrance of Coyote Beads, 178 S. Main St. in Bowling Green. The show will run through Sept. 28.

Boy Scouts half marathon & 5K set for Saturday
The Boy Scouts annual half marathon and 5k run will take place (rain or shine) in Bowling Green on Saturday, Aug. 25. The run will begin at 7:30 a.m. from the Wood County Fairgrounds. It is anticipated that there will be nearly 600 participants. The route will be as follows:
CHS 2024 Pirate Boys Soccer Schedule – Go Pirates!
The Continental High Boys Soccer will start their first season in Divison V with 4 games against Division IV teams and have two additional DIV teams on the 17 game schedule. The Pirates open the season at home with a pair of games. DIV Lima Bath comes to the Pirate pitch on Aug 20 and that home game is followed up with DIV Ottawa Glandorf on Thursday August 22. The Pirates hit the road for a pair of DIV games at Delta on Saturday August 26 and at Bryan on Tuesday August 27. The first of 3 Friday night games follow as the Pirates will host Miller City on August 30 for their PCL opener. The Pirates will travel to Ottawa Hills on Saturday September 7 for their longest road trip of the year. The Pirates will finish off their PCL season on Friday September 20 when they travel to Kalida. The Pirates will travel to DIV Liberty Benton on Tuesday September 24. The Pirates will close out the regular season on Thursday October 10 against DIV Wauseon. Good Luck Pirates.
Road remains closed at site of Friday crash into train, police standoff
MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WKEF) -- The road remains closed at the site of a crash into a train and a standoff with police on Friday. The City of Miamisburg posted photos of the closed intersection at West Linden Avenue and the railroad tracks that run parallel to the Great Miami River. The Linden Avenue bridge that spans the Great Miami River also remains closed.
Ohio teen missing for a year
DAYTON — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) is seeking the public’s assistance in locating missing 17-year-old, David Rowland. Rowland was 16 when he went missing from Dayton on Aug. 1, 2023. Authorities believe that he may still be in the local area. David is described as 5’5”, weighed 106 lbs. when he was last seen, and has blue eyes with brown hair.
Paint, sweat & tears; Main Street Greenville unveils new mural
GREENVILLE – Main Street Greenville’s Mural Committee’s latest addition had a “brush in” with the corner of Walnut and 3rd St. on the Beanz Buttercream building. The committee’s first painted mural is combined with vinyl text and wraps around the building. It was accomplished with the hard work of professional artists and committee members generously donating sweat equity to the project: Jennifer Overholser, Stephanie Schieltz-Lowder, and Joe Wintrow. Wintrow Signs produced the vinyl text background.
