,ASHLAND, Ky. – Freddie Knipp, Jr., 53, from Ironton, Ohio, was sentenced to 138 months in prison by U.S. District Judge David Bunning on Monday. Knipp was convicted on two counts of methamphetamine distribution and one count of selling a firearm to a convicted felon.

In August 2019, law enforcement officers from the Kentucky State Police (KSP) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) began investigating Knipp for suspected drug trafficking and illegal firearms activity. During the investigation, agents purchased approximately 65 grams of methamphetamine from Knipp and discovered he had sold a firearm to a prohibited individual.

At sentencing, the court determined that Knipp had distributed at least 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine in Boyd and Carter counties over a 10-month period from 2018 to 2020.

Under federal law, Knipp is required to serve 85 percent of his prison sentence. Following his release, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for five years.
