RAPID CITY – U.S. Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced that U.S. District Judge Karen Schrier has sentenced Evan Brown Bull, a 38-year-old man from Kyle, South Dakota, for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

The sentencing occurred on June 7, 2024, resulting in a 33-year and four-month federal prison term for Brown Bull. Following his prison sentence, he will be subject to five years of supervised release and must pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Brown Bull was indicted by a federal grand jury in July 2023 and was subsequently convicted after a three-day jury trial in Rapid City, South Dakota. The jury returned its guilty verdict on March 8, 2024.

Evidence presented at trial demonstrated that from 2016 to 2023, Brown Bull conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine across the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and throughout Rapid City.

Video footage showed Brown Bull participating in four controlled buys, selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant. Additionally, chat records provided further proof of multiple methamphetamine transactions and the conspiracy involving Brown Bull.
