    Huntington Man Sentenced to Prison for Fentanyl Distribution

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Melvin Pearson Jones, 40, of Huntington, has been sentenced to six months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for distributing fentanyl.

    According to court documents and statements made in court, Jones sold a quantity of fentanyl to a confidential informant at his Huntington apartment for $300 on August 3, 2023.

    Jones admitted to this transaction and to arranging it beforehand with the confidential informant. Additionally, Jones confessed to selling approximately 6.11 grams of heroin and fentanyl to the same informant in Huntington on August 9, 2023.

    United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the sentence and commended the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Huntington Police Department.

    United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence, and Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor prosecuted the case.
