WASHINGTON – Kenneth Miles Davis, Jr., 45, of Maryland, received a 32-year and six-month prison sentence today for his involvement in a road rage incident that escalated into a shooting on May 19, 2021.

The attack targeted a woman, her two children, ages 11 and 5, and a bystander in Northeast Washington, D.C. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Chief Pamela A. Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Davis was convicted on charges including one count of assault with intent to kill while armed, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and four counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. The verdict followed a three-week jury trial in January in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2021. Davis, driving a Maserati GranTurismo, was stuck in heavy rush-hour traffic at the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue NE and Eastern Avenue NE. Suddenly, he exited his vehicle with a handgun and fired seven shots into the car in front of him, which was occupied by a woman and her two children.

He then turned and fired six more shots at bystanders. The woman sustained a gunshot wound to her upper arm, and the 5-year-old child was injured by broken glass. Fortunately, the 11-year-old child and the bystanders were unharmed.

MPD investigators used video evidence to identify Davis. The footage, which was shared with local news outlets, generated a tip that led to the identification of Davis as the Maserati owner and the shooter.
