    Disney will have "The World's Most Magical Celebration" in Honor of its 50th anniversary

    In honor of its 50th anniversary, Walt Disney World is preparing an 18-month celebration.

    Disney said Tuesday that the four resort parks in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, would take part in "The World's Most Magical Celebration" beginning October 1.

    The resort opened to guests on October 1, 1971, capping off years of planning and development of Walt Disney's "magical dream," authorities said in a statement commemorating the event. Since then, the vacation destination has grown to include EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios in addition to Magic Kingdom. The property also contains many themed hotels, water parks, and Disney Springs, a shopping and dining center.

    The Magic Kingdom will host a new nightly performance called "Disney Enchantment" as part of the celebration. The performance will have improved lighting, fireworks, and immersive projection effects stretching from Cinderella's Castle to Main Street, USA.

    "Harmonious," a spectacle in the World Showcase Lagoon that will be "one of the largest nightly displays ever created for a Disney park," will be presented at EPCOT. A varied collection of 240 artists from across the world will perform fresh renditions of iconic Disney songs in more than a dozen languages.

    All of Disney's famous characters, including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip 'n' Dale, will be included in a collection of unique golden statues that will be unveiled on October 1 in all four parks. The ability to connect in unexpected ways with the 50 characters included in "Disney Fab 50," according to the statement.

    The characters will also be outfitted in glittering outfits designed just for this occasion.

    The launch of Remy's Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT on October 1 is another unique event. This adventure will transport guests to the delicious world of Disney and Pixar's "Ratatouille." On October 1, EPCOT will also welcome a new restaurant, La Crêperie de Paris.

    In addition, “Beacons of Magic” will be displayed nightly in all four parks as part of the celebration. Cinderella's castle will sprinkle fairy dust around the Magic Kingdom. As enchanting fireflies congregate to "usher in the enchantment." of nature, a warm glow will radiate from the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom.

    The Hollywood Tower Hotel at Hollywood Studios will be "awash in the splendor that conjures the golden era of creativity and adventure." And EPCOT will have new lights that will shine through the reflecting panels of Spaceship Earth, "linking with each other in a sign of optimism that mimics stars in a night sky."
