A recent New York Times article highlighting 15 of readers' favorite pizza places around the world crosses the globe to Japan, Lithuania, Amsterdam, Australia, Rwanda and other destinations – including Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

The July 5 article, titled "15 of Our Readers' Favorite Pizza Places Around the World" , compiles 15 of the Food section staff's favorite reader submissions.

"We combed through over a thousand responses, recapping the experiences of readers' favorite slices, nostalgic pies and of course, their version of 'the best,'" the feature reads.

A submission from NYT reader Conor Rayl, of Las Vegas, put Minnesota Lakes Country on the map with a mention of the original Zorbaz. '

"It's the greatest Mexican-Italian pizza joint in the world," the article states. "It is also right on the lake."

The Lowden – which features a peanut butter sauce, pepperoni and jalapeños – is the pie to try when dining lakeside at the iconic restaurant, per the article.
