Her father, the late C.L. Franklin was a prominent minister in the area. This meant frequent visits from well-known Black musicians like Nat King Cole, Mahalia Jackson, and Sam Cooke, who a teenaged Aretha swooned over, according to the <a href="https://www.detroitnews.com/story/entertainment/2018/08/28/ten-detroit-places-aretha-franklin/1077661002/">Detroit News.</a> </p><p>Motown's Berry Gordy Jr. and Smokey Robinson also lived in the historic neighborhood.</p><p>Looking back on growing up in the house, Franklin noted, "It was the most beautiful home I had ever seen."</p><h2>Tragedy Strikes Franklin Family</h2><p>Long after Aretha had moved out of her childhood home, tragedy struck the Franklin family. In 1979, Rev. Franklin was shot twice during what was believed to be an attempted robbery.</p><p>Rev. Franklin remained in a coma for five years before passing in 1984.</p><p>The city of Detroit then renamed nearby La Salle Park in his honor.</p><p>Aretha Franklin sold the home in 2013 for $81,000</p><h2>The Franklin Home Today</h2><p>The brick home in Detroit is now on the market for $379,900. A pending sale fell through in recent months after the home was listed for sale in January.</p><p>According to the <a href="https://www.zillow.com/homes/7415-La-Salle-Blvd-Detroit,-MI-48206_rb/88394863_zpid/">Zillow listing</a>, the home features six bedrooms, five bathrooms, original wood flooring, and a fireplace.
