DETROIT (WWJ) -- Officers with Customs and Border Protection seized nearly $9 million worth of cocaine found in duct taped boxes inside a truck attempting to cross the Ambassador Bridge.

According to documents filed in in U.S. District Court, the driver of the truck tried taking off after being pulled over for an outbound inspection, at around 11:45 p.m. on Monday.

The suspect, identified in an affidavit as Gangadeep Singh — an Indian citizen and resident of Canada — was the only one in the Canadian commercial truck, which was eventually stopped at the toll booths.

Agents noticed the seal on the trailer doors, which read "Apollo Health and Beauty Care," didn't match the seal on the paperwork the driver was carrying.

Upon further investigation, court documents say a drug dog detected a large amount of a white powdery substance, that field tested positive for cocaine, hidden inside 13 cardboard Home Depot boxes.

The Homeland Security agent quoted in the court papers valued the around 640 pounds of drugs at $8.7 million, which he said would be consistent with "large-scale drug distribution activities."

Singh is accused of attempted possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
