StockX president Greg Schwartz's best day ever

When StockX president and COO Greg Schwartz isn't overseeing daily operations at one of the world's largest sneaker websites, he's carving out time for his family and hobbies.

The intrigue: Axios caught up with Schwartz, a Metro Detroit native and U of M grad who lives in Birmingham, inside StockX's downtown pop-up during the NFL Draft.

• Sneakerheads from across the country stopped inside the Detroit-based company's storefront on Woodward — 49ers defensive end Chase Young even made an appearance.

Zoom in: The sneaker executive wore Travis Scott Jordan 1 lows, which he says are his favorite shoes right now.

• "I also love Air Force Ones, probably a favorite silhouette. And New Balance is coming up with a lot of great collabs these days. Our friends over at Klutch, Rich Paul, have a collab with New Balance and those are becoming a bigger part of my collection."

What they're saying: Renting the storefront during the draft, which displayed limited sneakers and gave prizes to lucky draft visitors, was a big win after the company hosted similar events in New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo, Schwartz says.

• "We have customers in over 200 countries but Detroit is home and when we look to the future, it's about expanding the categories we're in, expanding geographically in the markets we're in."

Here's how Schwartz would spend his perfect day:

☕️ Breakfast: "The best is at home with the kids — they're always running to school at different times and I'm running off to head downtown. If I can get a coffee in I'm good to go for a while."

🧀 Lunch: "One of my new favorites is Gilly's that just opened; their nachos are pretty amazing."

🛩️ Dinner: "When I'm not at work or focusing on current culture I love flying airplanes. Me and a buddy will hop in a little propeller airplane and fly out of Coleman A. Young, Pontiac or Troy.

• "One of my favorite places to eat dinner is at the Jackson airport, this place called The Apron ."
