A new black-owned business is steadily moving forward. Motor City Mimosa , a breakfast and brunch spot planned in the Eastern Market, is slated to open later in the Summer. The business originally mentioned they’d share the actual address in late March, according to a Metro Times article. However, no address has been shared at the time of this coverage.

Co-founded by chef Nina Love and event producer TeQuion Brookins , Motor City Mimosa aims to combine both founders’ passions and missions: Love’s dedication to good food and friendly vibes and Brookins’ commitment to culture and community.

“We are very much so two amazing, talented Black women that are about Black excellence, so we definitely want the energy of Black excellence to be present and are adding lots of intentionality in every aspect of the physical building and business model to reflect that,” Love told Metro Times.

Though no official updates on the space have been released, the business continued to post teasers on Instagram , suggesting the founders are slowly working toward opening up. Once opened, the restaurant plans to be a brunch spot and a cultural hub, hosting various events to lift community voices while pampering guests with delicious food and various mimosa flavors.

“MotorCity Mimosa is not just a brunch spot; it’s a destination where culture, cuisine, and community converge. Our vision is to create a space that redefines the brunch experience in Detroit, offering a blend of delectable cuisine, vibrant entertainment, and innovative meeting spaces.” Love posted as her catering business, The Love Experience , on Facebook .
