Michigan Central Station is finally set to reopen .

For decades, the historic train station was one of Detroit’s most conspicuous sources of blight. It had sat vacant since the last train left in 1988.

Ford Motor Co. bought the station from the Moroun family in 2018. Ford spent the past six years and approximately $950 million rehabbing the station and surrounding Corktown properties into an office campus for transportation startups. The company says it will eventually house shops, restaurants and 5,000 employees from various businesses .
