Trajan Langdon has made a significant addition to the Pistons' front office on the eve of the NBA Draft.

The Pistons are hiring Dallas Mavericks exec Dennis Lindsey as senior VP of basketball operations, according to ESPN . Lindsey was GM of the Jazz when they built a perennial playoff team around All-Stars Rudy Gobert, drafted 27th overall in 2013, and Donovan Mitchell, drafted 13th overall in 2017 -- one pick after the Pistons took Luke Kennard.

Lindsey, who also served as assistant GM of the Rockets and Spurs before his stint in Utah, spent the past season in an advisory role for the Mavericks, who reached the NBA Finals.

He brings an eye for talent and a wealth of front office savvy to the Pistons as they try to build from the ground up under Langdon, their new president of basketball operations.

Their first major decision looms in Wednesday night's draft, where the Pistons hold the fifth overall pick.
