Pride Month may be drawing to a close, but Detroit’s LGBTQ+ community keeps the party going all year long. Here are a few bars and nightclubs you can visit any month or day to celebrate in a safe space.

    Menjo’s

Menjo’s, one of Detroit’s oldest LGBTQ+ bars, was pre-fame Madonna’s main hangout when she was running wild in the Motor City streets – the same disco ball she used to dance under still hangs in the club. More than one venue, Menjo’s Bar is actually part of a complex that also includes leather bar The Eagle as well as the Olympus Theater.

    950 W. McNichols Rd. #928, Detroit. 313-863-3934. menjoscomplexdetroit.com .

    Pronto Lounge

This bright and popular Royal Oak spot opened its doors in 1991 and features a packed schedule of regular events including drag queen bingo and trivia, karaoke and more. Complete with a full kitchen, Pronto also boasts quality menus and is a popular brunch spot on weekends.

    608 S. Washington Ave., Royal Oak. 248-544-7900. prontolounge.com .

    Gigi’s

One of the granddaddies of Detroit’s LGBTQ+ scene, Gigi’s opened in 1973, just four years after the Stonewall rebellion. The main floor features a bar and nightclub, but Gigi’s is best known for the wild and elaborate drag shows that take place in the basement show bar on Saturday nights.

    16920 W. Warren Ave., Detroit. 313-584-6525. facebook.com/GigisDetroit .

    Soho

Ferndale’s popular Soho is celebrating 20 years in business. The lively cocktail bar also offers a staggering selection of beers, and hosts karaoke on Sunday and Tuesday nights among its many regular events that include First Wednesdays and a monthly Frigaze party.

    205 W. 9 Mile Rd., Ferndale. 248-542-7646. ferndalesoho.com .

    Adam’s Apple

A chill neighborhood spot, Adam’s Apple is known for its happy hour that runs from 3 to 8 p.m. and its Thursday night karaoke parties. Fun patio parties are also a staple here.

    18931 W. Warren Ave., Detroit. 313-240-8482. facebook.com/adamsapple.mi .

    HALO Bar and Lounge

Formerly the Hayloft Saloon, HALO opened earlier this year and is a casual gay bar hosting regular events such as drag bingo, Tuesday karaoke, Bears Out Friday and Package Monday – where guests are encouraged to show off their “hottest” underwear.

    8070 Greenfield Rd., Detroit. 313-581-8913. instagram.com/thehalodetroit .

    Inuendo

Inuendo (just one N), a popular nightclub in Highland Park, hosts regular dance parties, themed nights and shirtless events, as well as drag events and celebrity guests.

    744 E Savannah, Highland Park. 313-891-5798. instagram.com/inuendo_nights .

NOTE: Midtown Detroit's Temple Bar is not included in this list because it is temporarily closed due to structural damage it suffered in May 2024 .
