After the firing of Monty Williams late into this offseason, the Pistons have hired J.B. Bickerstaff as his successor. The new head coach inked a five-year deal with Detroit, but the financials are unknown at this time.

The 45-year-old became available to the Pistons when the Cavs decided to move in a different direction following an early exit in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals to the Boston Celtics.

Bickerstaff spent four full seasons as the Cavs head coach and finished three years with a winning record. The losing record came in his first year in the big chair with the team finishing just 22-50 in the shortened 2020-21 season.

The quick turnaround proved to be a driving factor in the new hire. The Pistons hope their new coach can replicate that success, but it won't be an easy job for Bickerstaff, as he'll be tasked with turning around a team with a record of 14-68, an NBA's worst last season.
