DETROIT (WWJ) -- There were no injuries, but a big obstacle in the way for drivers after a crash involving a rolled over semi trailer on I-96 Monday morning.

According to Michigan State Police, the crash happened at around 5:50 a.m. along westbound I-96 at McGraw Ave., near I-94.

Troopers who responded to the scene spoke with the 26-year-old truck driver, from Southfield, and it was determined that the the hydraulics on the second trailer of the tandem he was hauling randomly malfunctioned, causing the trailer to raise up while in motion.

The trailer hit the McGraw Ave. bridge overpass, causing the trailer to overturn, MSP said.

The trailer was empty, according to investigators.

The westbound lanes were shut down at I-94 for several hours to allow crews to clean up hydraulic fluid, which spilled out and covered the freeway.

    The freeway has since reopened.

MSP said no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no one was hurt.
