Detroit Lions LB Alex Anzalone reveals unlikely source of face injury

The Detroit Lions have been releasing photos from their Media Day on social media and in one of them, linebacker Alex Anzalone had what looked to be scratches or bruising under one of his eyes.

But Anzalone quickly cleared things up, revealing the reason behind his minor facial injury. As it turns out, his daughter was behind it, and she picked the perfect time to rough dad up, as it came on the same day he took the photo.

"Don’t mind my scratched/swollen left eye," Anzalone tweeted . "My daughter did that right before I left."

Anyone with kids knows injuries come with the territory, and those injuries often happen at the worst times, something Anzalone found out. Thankfully, this doesn't figure to put him in jeopardy of being ready for training camp, but a few inches higher and he might've had a problem.

After spending the first four years of his career with the New Orleans Saints, Anzalone has become a stalwart on the Lions' defense over the last three. He had arguably his best season in 2023 and is primed for another great campaign in 2024, assuming he can avoid a serious injury at the hands of his daughter.
