    There's still time to catch a fireworks show in metro Detroit near you

    Fourth of July 2024 has passed, but with the holiday falling on Thursday this year, the celebration generally extends through the weekend, even for fireworks shows.

    Metro Detroiters have a handful of chances to catch a fireworks show still this weekend, and even a couple into next week. Here are the shows that are left:

    Friday

    The Henry Ford and Detroit Symphony Orchestra: There's still one night left for The Henry Ford and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's annual Fourth of July celebration, at Greenfield Village in Dearborn. The festivities start at 5 p.m. Friday with food trucks, carousel rides and musical ensembles. A performance by the DSO begins at 8:30 p.m. and culminates with Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture," with cannon fire and a fireworks finale. General admission tickets are $35.75, $32 for seniors (62+), $26.75 for youth (5-11) and free for kids 4 and under. Parking is $9 per vehicle.

    Oakland County Fair: The fair kicks off Friday at Springfield Oaks County Park, 12451 Andersonville Road, Davisburg. Fireworks cap Day 1 at 10 p.m. Festivities start at 7 p.m. with a performance by the Grant Reiff Band, and the Oakland County Fair royalty will be crowned at intermission. A variety of ticket packages are available through the fair's website.

    Saturday

    Waterford: The Maceday/Lotus Lake Association's fireworks show will be held directly in front of All Saints Cemetery, 4401 Nelsey Road. Viewing from inside the grounds of the cemetery is available free to the public. The cemetery recommends arriving by 9:30 p.m. and bringing blankets, chairs and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Wednesday

    Clinton Township: Starting at 6 p.m. at Civic Center Park, 40700 Romeo Plank Road, the event will feature inflatables, face painting and food vendors during pre-show activities, followed by a musical performance from Your Generation from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The fireworks will start just after 10 p.m.

    Friday, July 12

    Woodhaven: The 2024 Uncle Sam Jam runs from July 11-14, at Woodhaven Civic Center Park23101 Hall Road, with fireworks at dusk July 12.

    Saturday, July 13

    New Haven: The Red Hot & Blue Festival at New Haven High School, 57700 Gratiot Ave., starts at 5 p.m. and features children's activities and food trucks. Music from Killer Vibe starts at 7 p.m. and the fireworks will start around 10 p.m.

    Outside metro Detroit

    Bay City Fireworks Festival: A couple hours' drive north of metro Detroit, Bay City hosts shows on Friday and Saturday night at Veterans Memorial Park on John F. Kennedy Drive. Gates open at 1 p.m. both days, with a variety of activities and admission prices. Check the website for details.

    DIY

    Michigan's fireworks law allows for setting off fireworks on personal property on certain dates throughout the year, and Friday is the last day until Labor Day weekend. Read here for full details on the state's law.
