After getting himself into legal trouble earlier this offseason that led to his release from the Detroit Lions , cornerback Cameron Sutton, who is now back with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been suspended by the NFL.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport , Sutton has been suspended without pay for the first eight games of the 2024 campaign after a league investigation determined he violated the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy. Sutton will be eligible for reinstatement on Oct. 28.

Back in March, a judge issued a felony arrest warrant for Sutton after he was accused of domestic battery by strangulation . Police revealed that Sutton was "evading law enforcement" before eventually turning himself in.

Since then, prosecutors closed the felony case against Sutton and instead filed a misdemeanor battery charge against him. The charging document stated that the veteran cornerback “did actually and intentionally touch or strike” or “did intentionally cause bodily harm” to the victim, who was his girlfriend.

A former third-round pick of the Steelers in 2017, Sutton was signed to a three-year, $33 million deal by the Lions during the 2023 offseason. He was released earlier this offseason once his legal troubles came to light and has since signed with the Steelers.
