NFL analyst thinks Detroit Lions are destined for greatness in next 5 years

It's no secret that the Detroit Lions have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations in 2024 after putting together one of the best seasons in franchise history in 2023, and they have a chance to have sustained success beyond this coming campaign.

That's because general manager Brad Holmes has done a fantastic job building this roster, with the Lions having a stellar mix of veterans and younger players up and down the roster. Holmes has done a masterful job with his draft picks.

Knowing that, it comes as no surprise that multiple Sports Illustrated writers believe the Lions will win a Super Bowl in the next five years. But one of them, SI's Greg Bishop, predicts Detroit will win two in that span.

Whew, buddy, this was hard. So many factors go into any one season. Yet so many of those factors are out of any one franchise’s control. But something struck me as I considered the future here. It’s something that I even asked various coaches and players in Detroit this offseason. Have we entered an era in which NFL dynasties return? Several answered yes . To that end, I like the Lions, what they’ve built and are building, as the next franchise to join these dynastic Chiefs.

Of the eight Sports Illustrated writers who gave their two cents, five of them had the Lions winning at least one over the next five years. Bishop was the only one who pegged a pair for Detroit, though.

It remains to be seen if the Lions can answer the bell, but they certainly have a roster capable of doing so. Budding star pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson believes the hype is "well-deserved" and says the team is ready for it.

"It's unreal. There's a lot of hype coming into this year, but I think it's well-deserved hype," Hutchinson told ESPN's Eric Woodyard . "I think a lot more guys on our team understand what this year is, and we understand what we got and we're all ready."

It's incredible to think how far we've come. The Lions have been the lovable losers of the NFL, but now we're at a point where someone is picking them to win multiple Super Bowls in a handful of years.
