The Seattle Seahawks are set to show down against the Detroit Lions in Week 4 this year. It will be the third straight season the Seahawks have traveled to the Motor City, but the first time it has received the primetime Monday Night Football treatment.

However, the bright lights of Monday night won’t be the only thing special about this showdown, at least for Lions fans. It was announced today Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson Jr. will be honored at halftime by being inducted into the Pride of the Lions. His name will rest alongside other legendary players from the franchise.

Johnson was originall the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 draft and he more than lived up to the high billing. His career was only nine years, but he made the most of it. During his career, all in Detroit, the former Georgia Tech star hauled in 731 receptions for 11,619 yards and 83 touchdowns. Johnson’s legendary 2012 season saw him set a single season receiving record where he nearly became the first player to eclipse 2,000 yards when he had 1,964.

Of course, Seahawks fans will remember Johnson most for another reason, as he was on the unfortunate end of one of the more iconic Legion of Boom moments of all time. The Lions were in Seattle – oddly enough, another Week 4 showdown on Monday Night Football – and they were gunning for an upset.

Trailing 13-10 with under two minutes left to play, Detroit had worked its way down to the Seahawks’ 11-yard line. Matthew Stafford had found Johnson on third down, and it looked as if he was going to cruise for the go-ahead touchdown.

    Kam Chancellor had other plans.

Seattle held on for a narrow 13-10 win, the Lions fell to 0-4, and Chancellor added another incredible highlight to his already impressive resume.

For as undeniably legendary as Johnson was, the Legion of Boom seemed to be his kryptonite. Overall, Johnson only had 12 receptions for 129 yards and no touchdowns in his three career games versus the Seahawks.
