The Detroit Lions went out and signed a good amount of undrafted rookies after the 2024 NFL Draft. One of the more notable signs was Fresno State cornerback Morice Norris.

The thing that made it notable was that the Lions had shown a lot of interest in Norris ahead of the draft. They attended his pro day and even took him out to dinner as well. He's a player that has a real shot to make the Lions 53-man roster due to his versatility. He can not only play cornerback, he can play safety too.

He wouldn't be the first Fresno State DB to come in and make an impact in the league recently. Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland was a fifth round draft in 2022 and became one of the leagues best corners in 2023. Bland led the league in interceptions and made the All-Pro team and Pro Bowl.

Bland and Norris were teammates at Fresno State in 2021 and now Norris is working out with Bland and looking to follow in his footsteps for the Lions.

The competition at corner is very steep at the moment, but orris could potentially find himself in that final spot. Even if he doesn't, he's a prime candidate to make the Lions practice squad this season and then have a shot to play if there's injuries or get a real shot to play in 2025.
