Rep. John James (R-MI) began his speech during the opening night of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by trolling the crowd.

Milwaukee, of course, is the domain of the Green Bay Packers, who are coming off a couple of subpar seasons. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions, who play their home games near James’ 10th congressional district, topped Green Bay to win the division last season before going on to lose in the NFC Championship game.

“Good evening, Wisconsin,” James told the crowd to begin his remarks. “Warmest regards, warmest regards from Detroit – home of the NFC North Champion Detroit Lions!”

Not surprisingly, James was showered with boos. The congressman then pivoted to politics.

The jeers James received on Monday night were far more light-hearted than the heckling that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was treated to earlier in the day.

McConnell has been a frequent target of former President Donald Trump , who was officially nominated at the convention on Monday. The senator was tapped to announce the awarding of Kentucky’s delegates to Trump, who has repeatedly attacked his Taiwan-born wife Elaine Chao as “Coco Chow.” Chao served as Trump’s Secretary of Transportation.

Before McConnell even began speaking, the crowd booed him.

“Madam Chairman,” he began. “The Commonwealth of Kentucky proudly casts 46 votes for the next president of the United States, Donald J. Trump.”
