Hooray for ice cream!July is National Ice Cream Month and Sunday is National Ice Cream Day.
President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month to honor America's favorite dessert. He also declared the third Sunday of July National Ice Cream Day. In metro Detroit, there are few deals to scoop (I couldn't resist) up to celebrate ice cream.

Browndog Barlor and Creamery
In honor of National Ice Cream Month, Browndog Barlor and Creamery released two new flavors and is supporting local animal rescues.
New flavors are "Bee-Stachio," a vegan option featuring pistachio-flavored almond milk with house-made honeycomb candy. Its new "Rose Cheesecake" combines Rosewater and cheesecake for an ice cream treat.From 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, when you make a $2 donation to "Pints for Progress" the creamery's initiative to support local animal rescues, you receive a free single scoop while supplies last.

The event is at all three locations: Browndog Barlor, 120 Main St., Northville; Lansing Shuffle, 325 Riverfront Drive, Lansing; and Browndog Creamery, 12930 Capital St. in Oak Park.
Proceeds from donations benefit Detroit Dog Rescue. BrownDog Creamery was founded in 2015 and specializes in small-batch craft ice cream. The creamery even has a line of Faygo-flavor-inspired ice cream. Browndog's Northville and Lansing locations offer dine-in menus that include burgers, boozy shakes, fries and twists on classic bar foods in addition to its craft ice cream. Hudsonville Ice Cream
West Michigan-based Hudsonville Ice Cream is giving away 5,000 ice cream bars including its Super Scoop flavors throughout the Midwest at special event pop-ups and through an online giveaway.Now through August Hudsonville's "Super Summer Happiness Tour" is traveling through and making stops in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
