The Detroit Lions made an addition to their offensive line on Monday when they signed Ike Boettger . That wasn't the only offensive line minded thing they did though. The Lions brought in Michigan Panthers offensive lineman Jake Burton for a workout.

Burton was a starter at guard for the Panthers all season long and played fairly well doing it. He's previously spent time in the NFL with the Giants in 2021. He also played for the Philadelphia Stars in the USFL for two seasons.

The big thing that connects him to the Lions is that he played for UCLA when Lions' offensive line coach Hank Fraley was the Bruins' offensive line coach. Perhaps Fraley saw something he liked in him back in 2017 and thought it would be nice to get another look at him.

Burton did not get the job on Monday, but that doesn't mean he's out. He's now a name to keep an eye on as camp progresses forward. There's liable to be some injuries that open up roster spots and the Lions may want to take another look at that time. There are some other teams that have shown interest. The Browns recently brought him in for a workout.
