SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- A superstar pro wrestler is in Metro Detroit, making stops at bars and party stores today and tomorrow to promote a new beer.

Hulk Hogan, currently in the spotlight after speaking (and tearing off his shirt) before former President Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention, is not here to talk politics per-se.

The WWE legend stopped by the WWJ Newsroom to talk with Tony Ortiz about his "Real American Beer."

Co-founded by Hogan, the new brew will be available later this summer in Michigan and 16 other states.

"Every time I come to Detroit I'm usually fighting giants like, oh yeah, Macho Man or stuff like that," Hogan said. "But now I'm here to let everybody know about Hulk Hogan's Real American Beer, because we have this crazy idea of bringing America back together one beer at a time."

How, as a wrestler, did he get involved with a beer?

"I saw that open lane when Bud Light crashed and burned with their marketing campaign," Hodan told Ortiz. "And, you know, I just had this idea because in the wrestling business, instead of going out into the ring and actually fighting, if you have a problem with somebody sometimes it's better to talk about it in the back over a beer instead of goin' out and killing each other."

Hogan told Ortiz the positive response so far to the product has been "overwhelming."

It's his hope, Hogan said, that the beer can have a hand in helping to reconnect people with differing views.

"It's really bigger than politics; because the Democrats and Republicans don't talk," Hogan said. "So, if I could bring American back together one beer at a time, we might have something."

Among his scheduled stops are O'Tooles in Royal Oak and the both the Old Shillelagh and Tin Roof in Detroit.
