“We Don’t Live Off Reputation, We Live Off Of Work” – Lions Coach Dan Campbell Is Already In Mid-Season Form

Inject Motor City Dan Campbell (MCDC) into my veins. There's not another coach in professional sports that more quickly morphed themselves from laughing stock to legitimate force than Dan Campbell. Remember the infamous "biting kneecaps" introductory press conference? Who doesn't... but instead of Dan being known solely for that , the head coach is now known for leading the grittiest team in the NFL. And for his funny, hard-nosed press conferences. He's also known for that. We're still a little over six weeks away from the NFL season, but now that teams are reporting for training camp, it feels like the NFL season is right around the corner. This is honestly my favorite part of the season: The buildup. There's nothing like having a clean slate and wishfully hoping that your team can go all the way before the wins and losses actually start piling up. And there's also nothing like seeing Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell already in mid-season form mere days into NFL training camp. The gritty head coach (see his hat for reference) was asked about the message he was telling his team before the season officially gets started, and Campbell revealed his messaging to the media in a way that made this almost feel like a locker room atmosphere: "It's all about the work. We don't live off reputation, we live off of work. And that's what's gotten us where we're at. It's been a long, hard road to get to where we're at right now. There's a price to be paid, and so we've gotta go pay it again.
