The Detroit Lions announced some front office maneuvers on Friday and one of the big ones that everyone will rightly focus on is the hiring of Charlie Adkins. He comes in to replace Brandon Sosna who left for a job with the Commanders. Sosna was quietly a big part of the Lions front office form a contracts standpoint.

The hire that really peaked our interest though was the hiring of  Dwayne Joseph to be the team's new Director of Scouting.

Joseph may not be known to everyone out there, but he has been in the game for a while and even rubbed elbows with Dan Campbell in Miami. Joseph started scouting in 2004 for the Dolphins and has had stints with the Bears, Eagles and Raiders.

It's the Eagles one that stands out the most. Joseph was the Director of Pro Personnel for the Eagles from 2015 to 2019. He helped build the Eagles' 2017 Super Bowl team.

Joseph oversaw some big moves that the Eagles made that year. Stuff like trading for starting defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan, starting cornerback Bradley Roby and running back Jay Ajayi.

After leaving the Eagles, Joseph became the Director of Pro Scouting with the Raiders. He helped the Raiders build the team that they currently have. That includes this past offseason with big signings like Christian Wilkins.

In Detroit he'll take over scouting as a whole and will help the Lions on both the pro side and the college side. This is a solid hire for the Lions.
