After 11 years in Midtown, running apparel retailer RUNdetroit has moved to Eastern Market.

The big picture: RUNdetroit has outgrown its shop on Canfield Street by Shinola and Motor City Brewing, it said in a text to customers Monday.

    • The new location at 1948 Division St. is slated to open Thursday.

Between the lines: RUNdetroit, opened by Justin Craig and Alia Polsgrove, is known for its intensive running shoe-fitting service and advice for runners, as well as its participation in the Detroit Free Press Marathon .

    • The store also leads a weekly running group, Saturdays at 8am, with 3-, 6- and 10-mile options. That doesn't change with the new location, from which this Saturday's run is scheduled to start.

Runners take note the local event of the year, the Free Press marathon, announced last week it sold out of two of its top races for the first time in its nearly 50-year history.

    • The marathon and international half-marathon sold out nearly two months before the deadline to register.
