DETROIT (WWJ) -- There's a risk of some severe weather to start off the week in Southeast Michigan.

According to AccuWeather, storms moving into Metro Detroit on Monday bring with them a risk for large hail, damaging wind gusts up to 55-65 mph, and even an isolated tornado.

The storms will be scattered, forecasters say, hitting as far north as M-59; although the greatest risk for severe weather will be along and south of I-94.

"I'm watching some of these thunderstorms blowing up now over southern Lake Michigan, and they're moving east or east-southeastward," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Joe Lundberg. "So, late this morning — probably after 9:30, 10 o'clock — pretty much the rest of the day we're at risk for one of these gusty thunderstorms to come through the area."

The National Weather Service best chance for the worst of these storms in Metro Detroit will be between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Monday.

Meanwhile, it'll be a hot one, with AccuWeather calling for a humid high of 86 degree, before temperatures drop when a cold front moves in.

Tuesday will be much cooler in Metro Detroit, with the high reaching only around 70 degrees. There will be another chance for a shower or thunderstorm in Metro Detroit on Tuesday.

Things are expected to clear up after that, AccuWeather says, with sunshine and highs at, or just below, 80 degrees forecasted through at least Saturday.
