Chad Taylor Quintet at Solar Myth
Chad Taylor is a "first call" drummer who is also a composer, band leader, jazz historian and scholar who was recently appointed to lead the University of Pittsburgh Jazz Studies Program. He came up in Chicago as a founding member of Jazz Underground, and worked in the Chicago jazz scene with the likes of trumpeter Rob Mazurek and saxophonist Fred Anderson. In the New Millennium, he has been active and in demand for gigs in New York, Philadelphia, and many other locales and has formed his own groups. He has created several fine recordings as a leader, most recently, The Chad Taylor Trio, The Daily Biological (Cuneiform, 2020) and The Chad Taylor Trio, The Reel (Astral Spirits, 2022.)

Wells Fargo dropping its name from South Philadelphia sports arena
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Wells Fargo plans to drop its name from the South Philadelphia sports arena, the home of the Flyers and 76ers, after the bank's contract expires in 2025. "Wells Fargo regularly reviews and adjusts our overall sponsorship strategy," a Wells Fargo spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday. Suspect sought after armed robbery in Kensington leaves man critically injured
Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who they say critically injured a man during an armed robbery in Kensington.It happened on July 12 along the 3100 block of Kensington Avenue.Investigators released surveillance video of the incident on Wednesday.Police say the suspect robbed the victim inside a convenience store.When the victim confronted the suspect outside, police say the suspect shot him in the neck.The suspect was then reportedly seen fleeing the area on a blue and silver Trek mountain bike.Anyone with information on the suspect in this incident is urged to contact Philadelphia police immediately.RELATED: Check the 6abc Neighborhood Safety Tracker
15-Year-Old Girl Shot In Neck, Critically Injured: Philadelphia PD
The victim was struck once in the neck around 8:20 p.m. and taken to Albert Einstein Hospital, authorities said in a release. She was shot in on the 1400 block of West Loudon Street from a dark grey Chevrolet Malibu during an "altercation," investigators believe. The suspect is described as a black woman in her early-to-mid 30s wearing a white T-shirt, PPD said.
Chad Snyder appointed to state board of funeral directors
As a third-generation funeral director, Chad Snyder has a unique perspective of the profession. In 1947, Chad's grandfather, Charles F. Snyder, opened a funeral home in downtown Lancaster, and the business grew to offer locations in Millersville, Willow Street, Lititz and other parts of the county. Chad watched his father, Chip Snyder, run the business after Charles retired, and Chad became the director in 2018. Chad was appointed to the Pennsylvania State Board of Directors earlier this year, and he said he plans to use his experience to bridge the gap between funeral directors and state legislators to benefit Lancaster and communities throughout the state.
