The Board of Osage County Commissioners convened for a regularly scheduled meeting at the fairgrounds on Monday morning for a brief and productive meeting. Monday's meeting was the first one since the Board had hired Stacey Brace to be a commissioner's assistant. From now on, Brace will put the agenda together for the meeting. County Clerk Robin Slack, who had been responsible for doing these things, was absent from Monday's meeting.

EAA Dedicates VAA’s Charles W. Harris Youth Aviation Center
The EAA Vintage Aircraft Association cut the ribbon dedicating the Charles W. Harris Youth Aviation Center today. Located on the VAA grounds at Wittman Regional Airport, the center is the latest addition to youth and family activities taking place at AirVenture 2024, and for years to come. VAA President Susan Dusenbury presided over the dedication ceremony. She was joined by co-Chairs of the center A.C. and Sue Hutson.
Grand opening set for Reasor’s south Broken Arrow location
Broken Arrow residents who’ve been eagerly waiting for Reasor’s new location to open in south Broken Arrow will get their day soon. Brookshire Grocery Co. announced the grand opening for the store is 10 a.m. on Aug. 8 at 1914 W. Norfolk Dr. The 65,000-square-foot store is the flagship property for the Aspen Ridge development on Aspen Avenue, just north of the Creek Turnpike.
Oklahoma authorities seize over 5,000 marijuana plants in Kingston raid
KINGSTON, Oklahoma — Authorities seized thousands of marijuana plants and processed marijuana during a raid on an unregistered grow operation in Kingston. On Friday, July 19, 2024, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics' (OBN) Marijuana Enforcement Teams (MET) executed a search warrant at 17368 Fobb Bottom Road. The operation resulted in the seizure of 5,212 marijuana plants and 178 pounds of processed marijuana, according to a press release from the OBN. Arrests are pending.

Tulsa man shoots burglar at home; suspect in critical condition
TULSA, OKLA (KTUL) — Early Monday morning, Tulsa police officers responded to a call of a shooting at a home near 24th Street and Sheridan Ave. According to TPD, the couple living at the home woke up to sounds coming from their back door. When the husband went to investigate, he found a burglar in their kitchen.
Report: Police force on Black Tulsans far exceeds representation in city
Tulsa police use non-lethal force on Black people far more than anyone else in the city, but TPD officials argue there is legitimacy to when officers choose to use force. The department's 2023 annual report shows 371 verified uses of force during arrests. 176 of these — 48.2% — were on Black people. This rate is more than triple Tulsa's Black population of roughly 15%, though the numbers mirror national statistics.
