OU junior wing Jeff Nwankwo has suffered a torn achilles during summer workouts, a source confirmed to Sooners Illustrated on Sunday. The severe injury will sideline him for an extended period of time, but Oklahoma is still hopeful that he could possibly make it back by the end of this upcoming season. Nwankwo made the jump to the Sooners from the junior college ranks earlier this offseason, coming aboard from Cowley College in Kansas.

Texas Man Seriously Injured in Accident in Coffeyville
A Texas man is seriously injured in a single vehicle accident in Coffeyville. 58-year-old Michael Bowers of Porter, Texas, was northbound on Willow Street in Coffeyville just before 11am on Friday when his Dodge Ram Pickup went off the roadway to the east, striking multiple mailboxes. The vehicle came back on the roadway briefly before leaving the street once again, this time to the west, where it then struck a tree in the 400 block of Willow. Bowers was taken to Coffeyville Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Shooting Incident at Econo Lodge Motel in Pryor Ends in Tragedy
PRYOR, Oklahoma ~ Last night, at approximately 9:39 PM, Pryor Creek Police Officers were dispatched to the Econo Lodge Motel on the south side of Pryor Creek in response to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim outside a motel room with two gunshot wounds to his upper body. The suspect had fled the scene before the officers arrived, but eyewitnesses provided a description of the suspect's vehicle.
