The 36th annual Chile Pepper Festival returns to Fayetteville
The annual Chile Pepper Festival returns to Fayetteville this weekend for its 36th iteration. The enduring cross-country event will occur as normal. However, organizers have changed a few proceedings. This week, Matthew Downs, the executive director of the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival, came to the Carver Center for Public Radio to talk about the Chile Pepper races with Ozarks at Large's Kyle Kellams.
Little Rock Basketball Announces Release of 2024-25 Schedule
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – With an eye on defending their Ohio Valley Conference title, the Little Rock Men's Basketball Team will take on a tough road schedule in non-conference play to prepare for another run at the OVC crown. The Trojans' 2024-25 schedule includes match-ups with five in-state opponents, including the first meeting with the Arkansas Razorbacks since 2021. Wynne City Council votes to add office manager for fire department
WYNNE — The Wynne Fire Department will be adding an officer manager position following a vote last night by the Wynne City Council. Fire Chief Kory Ward said the department has never had a secretary, but there is a need for one following the retirement of building inspector Chris Damron. Ward said the building inspector has always handled office work as well as on-site visits.
Walton-led nonprofit spends $10 million for 11 acres in Bentonville
A limited liability company led by philanthropist Alice Walton, Richard Hosley, and Scott Eccleston recently paid $10 million for 2812 E. Central Ave. in Bentonville. Hosley and Eccleston are executives of Art and Wellness Enterprises, which supports the operating nonprofits Walton founded. Walton is the only daughter of Walmart founders Sam and Helen Walton.
Another Little Rock Starbucks location votes to unionize
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Another central Arkansas Starbucks has voted to unionize. The workers at the Geyer Springs and I-30 location voted 8-4 to join Starbucks Workers United, the union said in a release. This location becomes the 5th Starbucks in Arkansas and 3rd in Little Rock to unionize.
