Deere reports net income of $1.734 billion in third quarter following hundreds of layoffs
WATERLOO, Iowa — Deere & Company reported a net income of $1.734 billion for the third quarter this year, or $6.29 per share. In early July, the company revealed plans to lay off 590 production employees at locations in Illinois and Iowa, along with 345 layoffs at its Waterloo operations set for September 20. Deere cited economic challenges and rising global operational and manufacturing costs in its decision to layoff workers.
