How Callum Robinson's body was found

In an area of Baja California where two Australian brothers and an American went missing, three bodies have been discovered by Mexican officials.

CBS News, the BBC's US partner, claimed that the FBI said the victims were discovered in the hamlet of Santo Tomas and had not yet been identified.

In the vicinity of the well-known tourist town of Ensenada, Jake, 30, Callum Robinson, 33, and Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, from the United States, were enjoying a surfing vacation. On April 27, they vanished.

A woman and two men were questioned by Mexican authorities on Thursday regarding their disappearance.

The state laboratory in Baja California will perform forensic testing in order to identify the deceased, according to the state prosecutor's office.

"I'm saying it's a very, very high probability that it is them," Baja California's chief prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez told Australia's 9News.
"They were in a state of decomposition. That is why we have to run the genetic tests."

On Friday, the office said that arrest warrants had been acquired for the offense of forced disappearance.

A burned-out white pickup truck, an abandoned tent, and a phone connected to the vacationers who vanished had previously been discovered.

In a secluded cliff area, a group of firefighters had been looking for Mr. Rhoad and the Robinson brothers.

In a statement to CBS News, the FBI said it "cannot comment on specifics” but “we can assure you that we are assessing every tip".
"If credible, we will pursue those leads with rigor. We are in contact with the family of the US citizen, and we are steadfast with our international law enforcement partners in finding answers," the bureau added.

One of the most dangerous states in Mexico is Baja California, where drug gangs from the area engage in turf conflicts. However, Californian travelers have long been drawn to Ensenada, which is 90 minutes south of the US-Mexico border, because of its excellent surfing.
