The City of Taunton has revealed they’ll be hosting an event in honor of International Overdose Awareness Day, which helps spread the message about the tragedy of drug overdose death and that drug overdose is preventable. The event aims to remember those who have lost their lives to overdose, support individuals currently struggling with Substance Use Disorders, and celebrate the journey of recovery.

One of the event's highlights will be the availability of community resources, providing attendees with vital information and support. Free Narcan, a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid overdoses, will be available, and there will be training sessions on how to use it effectively. Attendees can also look forward to guest speakers, refreshments, free raffle prizes, and much more, making the event not only informative but also engaging and supportive.

The event, organized by the Taunton Opiate Task Force, will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Liberty & Union Park. Please note that in case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for Thursday, August 29, 2024. Mark your calendars and join the City of Taunton for an evening of remembrance, support, and celebration.
