Meet The "Extreme Snuggler" French Bulldog Still Looking For Love

    2024-08-09

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a foster-based rescue in Massachusetts, is still looking for a forever home for an adorable six-year-old French bulldog named Joannie. The local animal rescue explains: “Joannie was found as a stray extremely emaciated and less than half her current weight now. She was missing fur on her body, face and ears. She has been nursed back to health and is doing wonderfully. While her age and exact history is unknown, it is clear she has mothered more than enough litters in her short lifetime.”

Joannie has a variety of loves and habits that make her a unique companion. According to Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., Joannie is an “extreme snuggler” and a “yard protection expert,” showcasing her affectionate and protective nature. She is noted to be a “quick learner” and loves to play with friends, indicating her sociable and intelligent demeanor. Joannie “loves attention from humans” and “literally lives for this,” making her a great pet for those looking for a loving companion. Despite being a French bulldog, she only snores a little and has a fondness for water, enjoying hoses and sprinklers.

However, Joannie does have some habits that potential adopters should be aware of. She “occasionally eats other dogs' feces and her own” and has food protection tendencies, hence she eats in a crate. Joannie is described as an “extreme escape artist at doors, gates,” and will “force her way through,” demonstrating her adventurous side. She “resource guards on occasion when overstimulated” and “redirects nibbles when overstimulated on other dogs and people in a non-aggressive way.”

To keep Joannie safe, Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. recommends a ruffland crate to avoid any metal doors to “stop bar pulling with teeth,” noting that she is currently sleeping in one at night. Joannie will “chase small animals” and is “working on leash pulling.” She has a tendency to chew on random things like “plastic, edges, etc.” Despite these habits, she is “99% crate trained” and “95% house trained,” making her well on her way to being a fully trained pet. Joannie is looking for a loving forever home where she can continue to thrive and bring joy to her new family.

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. requires that anyone interested in adopting must submit an application to them. As a foster-based rescue based in Massachusetts, they don’t have a shelter location, and visits with dogs are by appointment only. Their dogs reside in private homes or kennels until adoption.
