BinStar, a popular Massachusetts bargain store known for its fun and sustainable shopping experience, has announced the closure of its Brighton location. This decision was announced by Jack Laughlin, the CEO and founder of BinStar, in a message to the community.

Jack Laughlin explained the reasons behind the closure, stating, "To ensure we can continue to provide the best possible experience for our employees and customers, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our Brighton location, effective Wednesday August 14, 2024." He acknowledged that the growth from their first store in Avon to their third store in Saugus within a year brought about "important learnings and unexpected challenges."

The closure was primarily influenced by feedback from both the team and customers. Laughlin mentioned, "This was a tough call. I decided to close the store due to consistent feedback from the team–and from you, our customers–that operating the store was too difficult to provide the stellar customer & associate experiences we strive to deliver every day."

Despite the disappointment of closing their second store so soon, Laughlin emphasized that this decision is in the best interest of all stakeholders in the business. He expressed his gratitude to the Brighton store team for their hard work and thanked the community for their support. "It is certainly a disappointment to have to close our 2nd store so soon, but I am confident that this is in the best interest of all stakeholders in our business. I am incredibly grateful to the Brighton store team for their hard work. Your support means the world to me and the BinStar team, and we’re truly grateful for your patience."

BinStar's two other locations in Avon and Saugus will remain open with a pricing structure change that takes effect on Saturday, August 16th. BinStar is shifting away from its daily changing prices to offer a more consistent and varied set of deals every day of the week. The price points you can expect to find going forward at their two locations will be:

    • $2
    • $4
    • $8
    • $10
    • $15
    • $30
    • $40
    • $50
    • $75
    • $100

BinStar reveals this new pricing structure will allow them to stock better and more treasures. "With higher price points, we can bring in even more high-quality items that we couldn't offer before. More value and variety for you!" BinStar goes on to explain that's not all. "But wait, there’s more! To make the treasure hunt even more exciting, you’ll now be able to find some discounted items in our bins. Watch for special stamps indicating a 25%, 50%, and 75% off. Keep your eyes peeled for these stamps while you shop!"

BinStar also explains that with their brand-new pricing structure will come a few other changes, including that boxes will need to stay closed. "To keep our treasures complete and avoid missing pieces, we ask that all boxes remain closed from now on. Let’s keep everything neat and ready for everyone!" In addition, they have an upgraded return policy. "Great news! You can now get store credit or a refund to your card within 7 days of purchase. Shop with confidence and enjoy a worry-free shopping experience!"

While the closure of the Brighton location marks a significant change for BinStar, the company is committed to enhancing the shopping experience at its remaining locations. With a new pricing structure and additional policies aimed at improving customer satisfaction, BinStar continues to prioritize the needs and feedback of its community. The dedication to providing quality items at a discount and exceptional service remains at the core of BinStar's mission, ensuring a bright future for the beloved bargain store.
