Nino's Deli and Ice Cream, a beloved establishment in Kingston, has announced that it will be changing ownership after seven successful years in business. The current owners, Kim and Joe, have become well-known in the community for their dedication and hard work, making the decision a heartfelt one.

In an emotional statement, they shared, "It is with sad eyes and heavy hearts to announce that Nino’s Deli & Ice Cream will be changing ownership’s hands. We have had an amazing and successful 7 years in business and we wouldn’t be as strong as we are if it wasn’t for our customers and most importantly community."

The announcement highlighted the personal challenges faced by Joe, whose health has been a significant factor in their decision. "As life changes our energy and focus changes as well and at this time it’s best that Kim takes a step back and a smaller role to be able to spend quality time with Joe. When Joe first received his diagnosis it was a short term plan to have him take a step out and take care of his health. Unfortunately brain cancer is a tricky diagnosis and Joe isn’t capable of stepping back in full time. This is something Kim and Joe started together and it doesn’t feel right to continue without Joey by Kim’s side."

The deli portion of Nino’s Deli and Ice Cream will cease its operations on Friday, August 23rd, but the ice cream windows will stay open for the rest of the season. They reassured customers that gift cards would still be honored at the ice cream windows. "Our last day of deli operations will be this Friday, August 23rd and the ice cream windows will remain open for the rest of the season. Gift cards will be honored at the ice cream windows and we are very excited to see where the new owners will take Nino’s and will carry on the legacy that Kim and Joe dreamed of, built, created and executed."

Expressing their gratitude, Kim and Joe thanked their customers and staff for their unwavering support. "There will never be enough words to express how grateful we are for every single one of our customers. So many of you have made a huge impact and it is something we will always carry close to our hearts. We also cannot forget to thank our staff that has stuck by us and helped make Nino’s a welcoming and inclusive environment for all."

The community has shown immense support for the local small business, with the announcement garnering over four hundred reactions within the first day of being posted. One fan of Nino's Deli and Ice Cream wrote, "it has been an absolute pleasure having Nino’s as part of the community. Thank you for supporting our schools and the delicious food/treats! Best wishes to both Kim and Joe!!!" Many others expressed their gratitude to Kim and Joe for their years of serving up delightful food and ice cream.

As the community bids farewell to Kim and Joe, they look forward to seeing the new owners continue the legacy of Nino’s Deli and Ice Cream.
