Brockton's first brewpub, which prides itself on being the sixth Black-owned brewery in Massachusetts, has revealed it's planning on closing its downtown Brockton taproom. Brockton Beer Company announced the news to its community with a heartfelt statement, explaining the reason behind the closure and when customers will be able to enjoy their brews until.

"It is with a heavy heart that the Brockton Beer Company Ownership Group announces the closure of our taproom and kitchen in downtown Brockton on Saturday, September 28, 2024. We made this decision after careful and thorough consideration with our key stakeholders and exhausting all possible options to remain open. Ultimately, our current revenue does not cover our current and ongoing expenses." - Brockton Beer Company

When asked if there would be any special events on the final day of business, the brewpub explained "Yes, we are planning a special closing event on our last day to celebrate the memories and experiences we’ve shared with our customers and the community. More details will be announced soon." For those with existing gift cards or prepaid services, Brockton Beer Company states, "We encourage customers to redeem any existing gift cards or prepaid services before our final day of operations. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer refunds after our closure."

"Founded in 2018, Brockton Beer Company has been more than just a brewpub—it has been a vibrant part of downtown Brockton. Since brewing our signature beers in 2021 and opening our taproom in 2022, we have had the privilege of serving thousands of guests in and out of the greater Brockton area. Our beers have been distributed and served throughout Massachusetts and New York, and we are proud to have collaborated with many outstanding breweries. Throughout our time, we have worked tirelessly to create a space that not only offered diverse food and drinks, but also an excellent guest experience that fostered a strong sense of community." - Brockton Beer Company

The local beer company also revealed there are no plans to reopen Brockton Beer Company or transfer ownership. There is also no news as to what the future use of the space the beer company occupies at 121 Main Street will be used as.

The announcement of the upcoming closure of Brockton Beer Company has come as a surprise to fans of the local brewpub. "Heartbroken, sending you guys all of the love and support through this," commented one customer on the announcement. Another local wrote, "I’m so sad to read this. Thank you for all that you’ve done for our community over the past few years. Sending best wishes to you and your families!"

The closure of Brockton Beer Company marks the end of an era for the city's craft beer scene. As Massachusetts' sixth Black-owned brewery and Brockton's first brewpub, the company played a significant role in diversifying the local beer industry and revitalizing downtown Brockton. While the news has saddened many in the community, the impact of Brockton Beer Company on the local culture and economy cannot be understated. As the final days approach, longtime patrons and newcomers alike are encouraged to visit the taproom, savor their favorite brews, and celebrate the legacy of this local establishment.
