Town of Plymouth Announces Recycling & Sustainability Fair

The Town of Plymouth has announced it is hosting a Recycling & Sustainability Fair on Saturday, September 21st at Plymouth North High School from 10 AM until 2 PM. This event will be a "one-stop-shop" for disposing of old furniture, electronics, batteries, and so much more. Some items, such as electronics, car batteries, propane tanks, and more, will have a drop-off fee, and fees are donated towards recycling costs (see the poster by the Town of Plymouth for the exact fee). Other items, such as dining sets, coffee tables, and home office desks will be free to drop off as long as the item is in good enough condition for the product to have a second life. The event organizers note that at this time couches, recliners, and other upholstered items are not being accepted at this event due to space limitations.

When dropping off your items you'll also have the chance to explore booths for local vendors and environmental groups, such as:

    • Sustainable Plymouth
    • Town of Plymouth Climate Action Committee
    • Citizens Climate Lobby
    • Whale & Dolphin Conservation
    • and more
"The Fair is organized and run by Fred Cullen, owner of Green Team Junk Removal. Mr. Cullen has done a great job building a network of local organizations to help identify responsible avenues for re-homing and recycling items locally. For example, to handle book donations, Green Team Junk Removal partners with More Than Words - a nonprofit youth-run organization. Similarly, they also partner with HandUp Mattress Resale and Recycling which focuses on diverting mattresses and box springs away from landfills while also being committed to providing a "hand up" to the most vulnerable within the community." - Town of Plymouth

This event is all thanks to a great partnership with Green Team Junk Removal, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth, ReStore, and Sustainable Plymouth with support from Representative Kathy LaNatra and Representative Mathew J. Muratore, as well as National Grid and Eversource.
