After nearly 15 years of serving the Whitman community, McGuiggan's Pub and The Patio at McGuigan's announced last month that the owners, the Rosen and DaPonte families, have decided to sell the two establishments. As they stated, "After almost 15 years in business, our family feels that the timing is right for us to start our next adventures- which include the start of a new family and retirement."

While the news may come as a surprise to many, the owners have assured that the transition will be smooth. According to the statement, "McGuiggan’s Pub and The Patio at McGuiggan’s will continue to be in operation into October (final date tbd), when the change of ownership will begin its smooth transition. At that time, the restaurants will close for a very short amount of time and will reopen as two new restaurants."

They have now announced their final date of operation, which will be Sunday, October 6th from 11:30 am until 5 pm. The local business revealed the news to their community, thanking their loyal customers and staff for their support over the past fifteen years. "We hope to see you all before we close our doors," stated the social media post announcing the news.

The new owners, described as "established restaurateurs," plan to keep much of the current staff. This decision has been welcomed by the current owners, who stated, "We are pleased to share that the new owners plan to keep on as many members of the current staff that wish to be part of the new restaurants!" For those holding gift cards, there's good news. The statement also confirms, "Once the new restaurants open, any unused McGuiggan's Pub and The Patio at McGuiggan's gift cards will still be honored for up to one year."

While change can be challenging, the Rosen and DaPonte families are optimistic about the future. They expressed, "We know that change can be difficult, but we feel that all the changes happening will be positive ones for the staff, customers and the community as a whole." As McGuiggan's Pub and The Patio at McGuiggan's prepare to close this chapter, they leave behind a legacy of community, family, and great service.
