Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a dedicated dog rescue in Massachusetts, has recently shared a positive update on what they describe as one of their most heartbreaking cases. Reese, a young dog who had been severely abused, was spotted in a pile of garbage and rescued in early summer.

"Reese was found in June in a very rural area of Texas, beaten, covered in trash and left to die. He was one of the most heartbreaking cases we have come across. He was lying lifeless when found, like he had just accepted his fate," explains Sandy Paws Rescue. "He was emaciated, had severe head trauma, was heartworm positive, and had given up on life." Then happily sharing, "But not anymore!! This beauty has started his heartworm regiment, got his beautiful figure back and is as sweet as he can be! Have a look!" Sandy Paws Rescue then shared some updated photos of Reese, who is looking great (check them out below!).

Sandy Paws Rescue is a nonprofit foster-based dog rescue in Massachusetts that works to save dogs and give them a second chance by finding them their forever home. Sandy Paws Rescue explains that they "rescue dogs from various shelters, cruelty situations, owner surrenders in Massachusetts, and strays from Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida." They don't have a shelter location therefore all of their dogs wait to find their forever homes while in private foster homes or kennels.

Sandy Paws Rescue is a "100% volunteer-only operation," with most of their volunteers having full-time day jobs in addition to the work they do for the rescue. They explain "our only personal gain, is from seeing our dogs placed in wonderful homes." Sandy Paws Rescue operates and is only able to exist due to donations made to the nonprofit rescue. From transporting them from one state to another, to paying all medical bills, food, and more- running a dog rescue is expensive. "Our adoption fees do not cover the amount that we spend on our puppies/dogs to vet and transport them," explains Sandy Paws Rescue.

Sandy Paws Rescue went on to thank those who helped make it possible for them to save Reese, stating: "Thank you to everyone who donated to his care and helped us save him! We can’t wait for him to finish his treatment and start his new life." Sandy Paws Rescue also shared a way for others to help Reese, noting : "If you’d still like to help, you can send a donation or item from Reese’s wishlist here: https://cuddly.com/donate/4936861/bud"

Reese is not yet available to be adopted as he still has a bit longer on his road to recovery, but as he heals with his loving foster family and those at Sandy Paws Rescue to support him, he finally has a second chance at having a loving, happy life.
